DESCRIPTION:On April 12\, 2025\, OSSE’s Division of Postsecondary and Career Education (PCE) will host the 2025 Adult College and Credentials (ACC) Fair. This fair is a FREE opportunity for DC residents who are 18 and older and interested in starting college\, finishing a degree\, or earning a postsecondary credential or certification to learn more about these options and get their questions answered. \nThe fair will feature colleges and additional educational options\, presentations on understanding the new Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)\, guidance on finding financial support outside of the FAFSA\, and workshops on how to find your career pathway. One-on-one loan advising and resume consultations will also be available to 2025 ACC Fair attendees. \nThe fair will take place on Saturday\, April 12\, 2025\, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library located at 901 G St. NW\, Washington\, DC 20001.

DESCRIPTION:This Youth Workshop will serve youth East of the Anacostia River\, Wards 7 and 8\, ages 15\nto 24. We are inviting DC Public/Charter Schools (Grades 8-12)\, churches\, public and private\norganizations\, public agencies\, elected officials\, local businesses and employers to participate in the\nWorkshop and refer youth to attend. Features will include panel presentations and exhibitors by\nemployers\, drug counselors\, apprenticeship and skill training providers\, workforce development and\nsupport service programs and returning citizens. Youth will receive a “Certificate of Participation\,” and\nDCPS/DCPCS Community Service Hours for their participation. Online and telephone follow-up\ncounseling services will also be available. We are committed to share information\, resources and\nopportunities through opioid drugs and violence prevention and how to overcome barriers to targeted\ncareers in neighborhoods East of the River in the Nation’s Capital. It also features local vendors and artists\, food\, and participating businesses.\nThe 2024 Celebrate Petworth Festival will take place on Saturday\, September 14\, from 11 AM–5 PM.  \nThe festival will include:\nMain stage: Live music and entertainment from local performers\nVendors: Over 40 vendors and exhibitors with art\, food\, and crafts\nDog show: A major hit of the festival  \nThe festival was started in 2014 by a group of community organizers led by Tom Pipkin. The festival’s goal is to bring together residents\, local businesses\, and community-based organizations.

Join the GAFSC on October 7 on 12th Avenue NW!!!! \nLocation: Georgia Avenue NW from Missouri Avenue to Barry Place \nDate: Saturday\, October 7th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. \nRoad Closure: Georgia Avenue from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. \nOpen Streets is returning to Georgia Avenue in the fall of 2023! Three miles of Georgia Avenue will be closed to vehicles to allow people to walk\, run\, bike\, and play. \nThe route will include hourly programmed classes and demonstrations\, including yoga\, dancing\, and more! The event is free and suitable for all ages and abilities. No cars\, just people! \nBike Giveaway\nDDOT is excited to announce our first Bike Giveaway for Open Streets Georgia Avenue where District residents can apply to receive a FREE BIKE.  170 bikes (130 adult\, 40 children’s) are available for District residents\, with 50 percent dedicated for underserved residents identified by community partners.
