SUMMARY:DC Earned Income Tax Credit Awareness Day (Virtual Event)
DESCRIPTION:from the DISB website:  \nIn honor of EITC Awareness Day\, DISB and the United Way of the National Capital Area (UWNCA) are hosting this virtual event promoting this tax credit to District residents. Through a collaboration with the United Way of the National Capital Area\, qualified residents can work with trained IRS professionals and volunteers—for free—to get a credit potentially worth thousands of dollars. \nThe EITC\, one of the nation’s largest and most effective anti-poverty programs\, is a refundable tax credit. \nAre you eligible? \nFor the 2022 tax year\, households with incomes not exceeding $59\,187 can qualify for the EITC\, which could put up to $6\,935 into the pockets of eligible taxpayers. \nIn past years\, the amount of the DC EITC was 40% of the amount of the federal earned income tax credit. \nThat percentage has been increased to 70% for tax year 2022!
