The 2025 Healing Communities Symposium: An Integrated Approach to Violence Interruption

July 19 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm EDT

The Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement (ONSE) invites you to the 2nd Annual Healing Communities Symposium — a one-day summit uniting residents, government leaders, community-based organizations, and private sector partners to reimagine safety across the District.

This year’s theme, “An Integrated Approach to Violence Intervention,” calls on all of us to step up to stand down violence. Through rich dialogue, community activations, and mindful engagement, we’ll explore the intersections of healing, justice, and systems change.

Whether you’re a policymaker, business leader, returning citizen, activist, or neighbor, your voice and vision are vital. Together, we can build a District where peace is possible.

What to Expect

  • Keynote speakers from the District and across the country
  • Breakout sessions on policy, community-based solutions, and more
  • Live podcast recording with community voices
  • Yoga + meditation and wellness stations
  • Resource tables, networking, and community art
  • Free lunch + giveaways
  • And so much more…

Symposium Goals

  • Engage the public and private sectors to innovate strategies for large-scale violence interruption and reduction.
  • Empower participants with tools to actively address violence as a public health emergency.
  • Energize the District to shift narratives around violence, interruption, and intervention.
