On Friday, June 27, 2025, the Brightwood Family Success Center (BFSC), in partnership with the Georgia Avenue Family Support Collaborative (GAFSC), proudly participated in the GNJ Health Fair, Bazaar, and Fish Fry—an energetic and heartwarming event that brought together families, community members, and local service providers.
This vibrant community gathering provided the perfect opportunity for BFSC and GAFSC to connect with residents, especially local seniors, their families, and even their grandchildren. Attendees had the chance to learn more about the wide range of support services both organizations offer, from family resources and youth programs to upcoming community events and engagement opportunities.
“Our table stayed busy all day,” said Mistie L. Ayala, BSW, BFSC’s Bilingual Community Engagement Coordinator. “It was a joy to interact with our neighbors and share information about how the Family Success Center is here to support and uplift them.”
The team shared flyers, answered questions, and encouraged people to stay connected with BFSC’s programs and events. Their presence helped strengthen awareness of the center’s mission and deepened community ties in a meaningful way.
A Team Effort
Mistie extended heartfelt appreciation to the many individuals who made the day a success:

Ms. Janice and Ms. Burless, for welcoming BFSC to the event and providing such a warm and inclusive platform.

Harris, the center’s intern, whose dedication and energy were instrumental in spreading the word about BFSC.

And a special thank-you to Ms. Debra Gittens, whose unwavering encouragement and advocacy continue to open doors for community involvement.
Of course, no community event is complete without a little fun—and Fast Freddy the Clown brought the laughs and smiles all day long. His presence reminded everyone just how joyful and vibrant community gatherings can be.

Conectando con la Comunidad: BFSC en la Feria de Salud, Bazar y Fish Fry de GNJ
El viernes 27 de junio de 2025, el Centro de Éxito Familiar de Brightwood (BFSC), en colaboración con el Georgia Avenue Family Support Collaborative (GAFSC), tuvo el honor de participar en la Feria de Salud, Bazar y Fish Fry de GNJ — un evento lleno de energía y calidez que reunió a familias, vecinos y proveedores de servicios comunitarios.
Este evento comunitario fue la oportunidad perfecta para que BFSC y GAFSC se conectaran con residentes del área, especialmente personas mayores, sus familias y hasta sus nietos. Las personas asistentes recibieron información sobre los programas y recursos que ofrecemos, incluyendo servicios familiares, actividades juveniles y eventos comunitarios próximos.
“Nuestro espacio estuvo lleno todo el día,” compartió Mistie L. Ayala, BSW, Coordinadora Bilingüe de Participación Comunitaria de BFSC. “Fue un placer hablar con nuestros vecinos y contarles cómo el Centro está aquí para apoyarlos y fortalecer la comunidad.”
El equipo compartió volantes, respondió preguntas y animó a todos a seguir conectados con las actividades del centro. Fue una gran oportunidad para fortalecer relaciones y aumentar el conocimiento sobre nuestra misión.
