It is with great pride and joy that we share highlights from our recent Spring Family Day—a heartwarming event that brought residents of Ward 4, especially those in the Brightwood cluster, together in celebration and community.

Residents showed up in full force to enjoy an afternoon of music, food, art, and togetherness. The event served as a vibrant reminder of what community connection looks like when everyone shows up to support one another.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our wonderful partners at the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Fourth District, especially Officer Hamrick and Officer Lesesene, whose dedication made this day possible. A special shout-out goes to Cadet Wilson, who delighted the crowd as our Easter Bunny and brought smiles to the faces of children and adults alike!

The joy of the day was made even more special by the collaboration between GAFSC staff and our neighbors in uniform. From music and dancing to creative art activities and shared meals, residents had a chance to connect with officers in a fun and positive setting.

This event would not have been possible without the incredible commitment of our team. Thank you to Shakira Gantt, Mistie Ayala, and Earl Robinson, who each went above and beyond to bring this vision to life. We are equally grateful to our wider GAFSC team for their unwavering support, most especially to our servant leader, Ms. Debra Gittens, for her encouragement and behind-the-scenes support that keeps our mission alive every day.

As we reflect on the success of this event, we look ahead with excitement to future collaborations with MPD—especially our upcoming Kids, Cops, and Karaoke initiative in May. Stay tuned!

Wishing you and your families a joyful and safe Easter.

Check out some of the snapshots capturing the spirit of the day—thank you to everyone who made it so special!
