Katrina Y. Coates Joins the GAFSC as Chief Program Officer

Katrina Y. Coates, LICSW, joined Georgia Avenue Family Support Collaborative (GAFSC) as Chief Program Officer (CPO) on Monday, October 3, 2022.

In her new role, Katrina is responsible for establishing a strategic vision and guiding philosophy that will inform short- and long-term goals of programming, drive new programs/services, and carefully monitor the progress toward those efforts. As CPO, Katrina has oversight responsibility for all direct service staff. She will provide clinical oversight of the planning, supervision, and coordination of services to stabilize, support, and nurture children and families in concert with our GAFSC licensed program managers/supervisors.  Katrina reports to the Interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Katrina is a native Washingtonian who was educated in the DC Public System. She earned her Bachelor of Social Work Degree from the University of the District of Columbia in 1997 and a Master of Social Work Degree from Howard University in 2004.

Katrina is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with over 25 years of experience in the human services field. Most recently, she served as the Chief Program Officer at the Edgewood/Brookland Family Support Collaborative. Katrina enjoys helping others and frequently refers to her contribution to the field as a ministry.

Katrina has worked in various settings, to include the DC Department of Human Services, Health Services for Children with Special Needs.  She aspires to positively impact the lives of those with whom she comes in contact.
